Famed Girl Athlete Now a Milkman, is the life story of Beatrice Arbour Parrott, a Canadian immigrant who grew up in a French-speaking Catholic neighborhood in Somerset, Massachusetts during the Great Depression. Bea’s story is about athleticism, having a good attitude and living her life as she sees fit, despite cultural hurdles of sexism and poverty. Bea was the first woman in Somerset to earn a man’s wage, and she played her way all the way to the Majors in the All American Girls’ Professional Baseball League. This history is written over 18 months of interviews and meals with her granddaughter, Jenny Parrott.
